Annie’s Project Builds Skills In Farm/Ranch Women

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Area farm and ranch women have proved they want to be more involved in their farm/ranch enterprise. These 13 women recently completed Annie’s Project, a course offered by our office, the NDSU Extension Service in Dunn County, to empower them to become more involved in the financial end of their businesses.

These ladies learned about financial analysis, crop insurance, bookkeeping methods, marketing, goal setting and much more. Pre-surveys indicated that most of these women were not involved in the financial dealings of their enterprise.

Attendees were from the nearby communities of Dunn Center, Halliday, Golden Valley, Killdeer, Beaulah and Hebron. Annie’s is a six-week course in offered in 23 North Dakota locations this winter. Classes were held at the Halliday School.

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

Recently the city library, located in the city hall, has had a face-lift. All the books have been catalogued and updated. The new librarians have purchased many current books and would like input on any books the public would like us to purchase. We have a “new book” shelf so make sure you check that out first to see any new purchases. We also have many nonfiction books donated by the extension office. Check it out!!! Join the many patrons who are enjoying the availability of books in our own library. Happy Reading!!!

Our community club potluck supper and dance is a popular winter event.  It brings not only our community out but neighboring communities as well.  This was held on Sat. evening, Feb. 2, 2008 and after a cold weather siege, it was an opportunity to get out and socialize.

Fundraising Breakfast

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

Once again the St. Paul Lutheran men outdid themselves flipping the pancakes and cooking the sausage on Feb. 24th, 2008.  The women had a large variety of pies and goodies for sale.  All money was matched by the  Thrivent Lutheran Brotherhood.  Looking at all the satisfied faces, everyone enjoyed the food and fellowship.
