At the city council meeting on March 5, Mayor Leonard Streifel signed a resolution of the City of Dodge recognizing City Government week for April 7- 11, 2008. He encouraged all citizens to support the celebration. An open house was held on April 9 with coffee and rolls being served from 8:30 to 10:30 am. The annual Easter Egg Hunt was held Saturday March 22 in the Dodge City Parks. This event is sponsored by the Sunshine Club. There were about 30-40 kids in attendence. All of them received candy, pop, prizes and money. There was also a drawing for a $50.00 savings bond. That was won by Austin of Beulah.
The Sunshine Club is a non-profit organization that gives cheer up gifts to provide support to people needing a little boost. They are in their 11th year. The founders were 5 women from the surrounding area. Current membership is now at 50-60.
The Dodge Country Store will celebrate its 1st anniversary this month. Owners Tammy and Todd Brinkman look forward to another year, and they would like to thank everyone for their past and continued support.
Tammy said, “Dodge people are very supportive and are making it happen for us.”
The much anticipated Icee machine will be making a return next week.
Gas, hot and cold beverages, including off-sale liquor, food essentials, snacks, and a place to play pool and visit are provided.
Come to Dodge’s homebased business show on Saturday, April 5, 9:00am to 4:00pm. It will be held at the Dodge auditorium featuring over 20 local vendors with hourly door prizes to be awarded and a coloring contest for the kids. Lunch will be provided all day by the Sunshine Club. It is a good time to do some major shopping and also some good visiting.
